Winter Presentations Past & Present

Hazen is hard at work organizing presentations for the winter, so we can kind of scratch our padding itch without actually being out in the cold and ice.
The Waitukubuli Trail: The first one already happened, in November. Brian Newhook talked about his April 2025 paddle with his friends Rob Scott and Rob Bertolo on the Waitukubuli* Sea Trail, which follows the stunning and beautiful coastline of the island of Dominica in the Caribbean Sea. The sea trail is on the protected leeward side of Dominica, which provides shelter from the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. The views are dazzling – just imagine the coast of Newfoundland, but the water’s warm and you’re in a swim suit instead of a drysuit!

We’re also planning for a few more, though dates have not been set.

*Waitukubuli is an indigenous Kalinago name, meaning “tall is her body.”

The Upper Humber: Last year, brothers Graham, Stephen, Luke, and William Gresham told us about their canoe trip down *Waitukubu the Northwest River. This season they’re going to tell us about their next adventure, a paddle on the upper Humber River, which they completed before last summer’s drought and heat settled in. We’re looking forward
to it!

Evening at the Movies: We’ll be hosting an evening of short paddling videos by club members, to whet your appetite for all kinds of new places!
Did you do something really exciting last summer? Please make a presentation to your fellow paddlers! It’s lots of fun, not too much work, and we all enjoy hearing about what each other has done. Please get in touch with the club if you want to share your story.
