Annual Events Lineup
Paddle NL has many Annual events planned for our Members and events to bring the paddling community together.
Established in 2017, the Club is rich in both history and tradition as it brought Tumble Home Canoe Club and Kayak Newfoundland
Labrador together to form Paddle NL.

Fill The Canoe Christmas Charity
Partnering with local businesses & the Salvation Army, every fall we aim to FILL A CANOE with Teddy Bears and Toys for the children of our province.
Some donation ideas include: Basket Balls, Soccer Balls, hair tools, puzzles, art sets, Legos, movie money & cash donations
With your help we can help the Salvation Army continue to make magic for the children in our province.

Santa Hat Paddle
Our festive Santa Hat Paddle is another on the water costume parade! Grinches, Santa’s and elves take to the water on their decorated canoes, SUP boards and kayaks to get in the Holiday Spirit. Everyone is welcome; dress up warm and come out to paddle with us or watch from ashore.

Annual Skills School
Each year in late May / Early June Paddle Newfoundland and Labrador puts off its Annual Skills School in partnership with the city of St. John’s. The course takes place at Sunshine Rotary Park at Healey’s Pond where Paddle Canada sanctioned courses in kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding are delivered to participants. These courses are taught by Paddle Canada Certified Instructors. Courses offered include Basic Kayak Skills, Introduction to Lake, Intermediate Lake Tandem and Stand up Paddle Board.

Halloween Paddle
Every spooky season, paddlers unite to come out and show off their Halloween costumes in their canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. The group paddle around a pond, parading costumes for folks along the shore and enjoying a fall afternoon on the water. Join the Goulds, Goblins, Witches and Skeletons on the water for a fun and SPOOKTACULAR paddle, or enjoy the parade from the shoreline!

Paddle NL Retreat
The Paddle NL Retreat is a family friendly, annual event designed to bring all paddlers of the community together for a long weekend of paddling, learning and socializing. This event happens on the last holiday weekend of June, at a location that offers multiple levels of paddling.
The location and events will vary from year to year, and is planned throughout the off season by a group of volunteers working as the Retreat Committee.
It’s cost friendly too! Once the Retreat Committee sets the location, you decide where you stay /camp and PNL takes care of most of the rest, for a very small registration fee. It is open to all Kayakers, Canoeists, and SUP paddlers, from beginner to expert in skill and experience.

Wednesday Evening Paddles
The Wednesday evening paddles have been a signature event for the canoeists’ portion of PNL for many years; however in recent years many kayakers have also participated in this social event. For those who are new to paddling sports this provides a great opportunity to develop your paddling skills and learn from more experienced paddlers in our club.
The paddles are open to all club members and the general public. It’s a great opportunity to try the sport and to meet new friends. If you have your own boat and all the required safety equipment, just come along and at the pond let us know that you would like to join us for tonight’s paddle.
If you don’t have a boat or life jacket but would like to come along, we can probably find you a partner and the necessary gear for the evening.

Kayak Skill Sessions
Paddle NL regularly delivers Skills Sessions during the summer and winter months. During the summer months, clinics such as kayak rescues and kayak rolling are popular among PNL members. These clinics are also delivered during the winter months where pool time is available.

Thursday Evening Paddles
Throughout the summer season, paddlers get together on a regular basis to practice ocean paddling skills. Usually taking place in Conception Bay, it allows paddlers to gain experience in a variety of conditions with the support of a group environment and skilled paddlers.
An unofficial event, typically a leader steps up on our Facebook Page.
Places to paddle
Whether on a pond, lake, ocean or river Newfoundland and Labrador has many places to explore!
